TARA REID (Vicky)

Did you like the direction your character, "Vicky's" relationship with "Kevin" went in the sequel?
I thought it was great. I thought it was really real, and something that happens in everyone's life. I just feel like it happens in everyone's life. Everyone gets broken up with in their life, and one person likes the other more, and sometimes one wants to go back and the other doesn't. I thought it was a cool storyline to touch on. Because in the first one, our storyline was so real too about being boyfriend and girlfriend, losing your virginity to each other, and everyone is nervous. I wanted to say he loves me, and for it to be perfect. So I thought it had a really cool arc, the way it turned.

Your storyline touches on breaking up and remaining friends.
That's the hardest part. And that's the one thing I was kind of psyched about in this storyline because you don't always stay friends with them. You either hate each other, or one thing or the other. Sometimes you wish you could have stayed friends with them. There are a couple ex-boyfriends I am still friends with, and there are some I will never talk to again.

There's a great scene of "Vicky" and "Kevin" kissing in the beginning of "American Pie 2." Was that a tough scene to film?
Yes, that was the hardest. It's so much easier to kiss in a movie, than do a non-kiss. We had to do that scene forty times. It was so hard to get the perfect kiss. We literally shot it forty times. It was impossible. I'm like "Dude, let's just kiss" (laughing).

Did you have any worries about doing a sequel?
Not really because we knew everyone was coming back. Once you know everyone's coming back, you kind of feel safe. And then once we had the table reading, it's like "Here we go again." Hearing everyone's voices playing the characters again was so funny. It was exciting.

J.B. Rogers was the 1st Assistant Director on "American Pie." What was working with him as the director like for you?
He's great. J.B.'s so cool. That's what really made the movie so great - everyone was still working together. Even though Chris and Paul Weitz weren't directing this one, J.B. was. I mean, we knew J.B. so well from the first one. The 1st Assistant Director is such a major player - you have no idea - in a movie. So J.B. already knew us, and we already had a relationship with him. It was just easy and so much fun.

Was it hard to get back into a role you've already done?
It's so much easier. It's like riding a bike. Once you ride that bike, you never lose it. Once you play a character, you never lose it in your soul. You have it in you forever. It's so much easier to go two years later and be your character. It's natural. It's like anyone. You look at yourself right now and then you look at yourself in two years. You're still the same person, you're just a little different. And that's how we played our characters.

What about the chance of a third "American Pie?"
Let's see how the second one does. If the second one does really good, and if there is a good script, and if everyone came back again, maybe. But if not, there's no way it would happen. Plus, most of us had options to do the second one. No one has an option to do the third one, so it'd be a lot harder to get everyone back. Maybe, you never know.

How much longer do you think you'll be able to play teenage characters?
I was kind of hoping that this would be my graduation from this genre. And getting to step it up to play more female leads, older roles - I'm 25 years old. That's where my direction is, where I want to go right now.
