Tim Allen was drawn to this role due to the interweaving of comedy and drama. Allen's career includes stand-up comedy, the hit television series "Home Improvement" and motion pictures such as "The Santa Claus" and "Galaxy Quest." He was seeking something more than a broad comedy, and found what he was looking for in "Joe Somebody."

Allen’s partner, producer Brian Reilly, claims "Joe Somebody" is the perfect fit for the actor. "Tim’s previous roles did not have the kind of emotional truth or intimacy on screen called for by 'Joe Somebody.' Tim has now reached a time in his life when it’s right for him to do a film with rich and shaded characters."

TIM ALLEN (Joe)

Who is "Joe?"
The best thing I can say is he is an individual who you get to observe, in a crisis moment in his life, make a decision. Instead of being reactive, he decides to be proactive. To me, he is courageous. Very often when we get reactive it's, “Why me?” With this guy, it's “Why not me?” He has a chance, in a comedy way, to make a big change in his life.

What attracted you to this role?
To me, it was a spectrum of a really cool story and a simple idea. I love simple ideas. A guy gets humiliated in front of his daughter and what does he do about it?

Which character did you relate more to - the bully or the one who gets beat up?
I've never been a bully. If I tormented my brothers it was because I was more of an emotional bully but never a physical bully. I really related to “Joe” on that, knowing what it is like to be terrorized.

Any big plans for the holidays?
I'm going to take my entire family - and it's a big one - and we're going to go to Disneyland, believe it or not. I work for Disney, so I've been there a lot but it's great because they all want to see it.
