Tim Allen was drawn to this role due to the interweaving of comedy and drama. Allen's career includes stand-up comedy, the hit television series "Home Improvement" and motion pictures such as "The Santa Claus" and "Galaxy Quest." He was seeking something more than a broad comedy, and found what he was looking for in "Joe Somebody."
Allens partner, producer Brian Reilly, claims "Joe Somebody" is the perfect fit for the actor. "Tims previous roles did not have the kind of emotional truth or intimacy on screen called for by 'Joe Somebody.' Tim has now reached a time in his life when its right for him to do a film with rich and shaded characters."
