The Writers Guild of America's list of nominees for outstanding achievement in writing for the screen during 2005 actually contained one comedy, something very unusual when it comes to year-end kudos. Judd Apatow and Steve Carell earned a nomination for their work on "The 40 Year Old Virgin," an R-rated comedy that did huge business at the box office. But in the end it was dramatic fare which took home top honors.
