Based on the comic books by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, 30 Days of Night tells the story of a husband and wife sheriff team who have to protect their small town of Barrow, Alaska, from a group of vampires. The title refers to the number of days the Alaskan town goes without sunlight during the winter.
Stuart Beattie and Brian Nelson adapted the story for the screen and David Slade (Hard Candy) has signed on to direct. 30 Days of Night will be produced by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert.
Hartnett will next be seen in the The Black Dahlia, directed by Brian De Palma.
