Whedon and Universal have "Serenity," a high-flying sci-fi Western based on Whedon's TV series "Firefly," about to hit theaters and are apparently happy enough about their working relationship that they're ready to work with him again.
According to Variety, "Goners" will return Whedon to the realm of the supernatural he explored in the cult hits, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel."
After the deal was announced, Whedon told Variety, "It's the story of a young woman's journey that involves a great deal of horror and some heroics. It's certainly darker than 'Serenity,' and there are a lot of left turns along the way."
Whedon's next project is supposed to the "Wonder Woman" for Warner Bros Pictures. Whedon is currently at work on the script and has mentioned he'd like to cast an unknown in the lead.
